PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the usability for a user relating to DRAW recording media, various kinds (capacities) of which exist. SOLUTION: The kind of the loaded DRAW recording medium is discriminated and the recordable time for the DRAW recording medium is calculated by using at the result of the discrimination and is displayed. When the compression processing of the data input as one of the encoding processing of the recording data is carried out, the recordable time of the case the data subjected to compression processing is recorded is calculated and displayed.
