PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk cartridge which is capable of improving the position accuracy in the height direction of a disk-like medium of the disk cartridge in mounting the disk cartridge to a recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: This disk cartridge internally houses the disk-like medium 3 and the disk-like medium rotates when the recording and reproducing device is fitted with the disk cartridge. Reference planes 24a and 24b in the height direction of the cartridge are set at the same height as that of a reference plane 3a in the height direction of the disk-like medium. The reference position in the height direction of the cartridge and the reference position of the disk medium are the same and therefore the position accuracy of disk-like medium within the cartridge is improved regardless of the thickness direction of the cartridge. When the disk-like medium is housed within a case consisting of a first case and a second case, the reference plane in the height direction of the cartridge is set at the mating surface of the first case and the second case.
