SOLUTION: In this motor-driven power steering device 10, steering torque applied to the steering wheel 21 is transmitted to a rack shaft 26 via a rack and pinion mechanism 25, auxiliary torque generated by a motor 50 in response to the steering torque is imparted from the motor 50 to the rack shaft 26 via a ball screw 70, and dirigible road wheels 29, 29 are steered by the rack shaft 26.
