PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants-type absorbent article excellent in any of strength of a joint region, a feeling and peelability. SOLUTION: In the absorbent article provided with a liquid-permeable surface sheet 2, a liquid-impermeable leak-proof sheet and a liquid-holding absorber 4, both of right and left side edges on a ventral side and both of right and left side edges on a dorsal side, respectively, are at least partially joined together so as to form the paired joint regions 9. The joint region 9 is formed by mixing at least many thinnest regions 91, many thickest regions 93 and many regions 92 located in between the regions 91 and 93. The thinnest regions 91 are joined together, and the thickest regions 93 are not joined together, and the area of the thinnest region 91 is taken as 15% to 45% of the gross area of the joint region 9.
