PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for avoiding a backward tumble of a vehicle at quick braking while the vehicle is in a reversing motion on a steep slope. SOLUTION: The avoiding device for vehicle 10 having braking force lowering means 12, 14, 30 for at least one wheel is to avoid tumbling of the vehicle in the braking process, wherein the device includes deciding means 16 and 30 for the inclining angleθof the vehicle, and the braking force lowering means 12, 14, 30 are operating as a function of the inclining angleθ.
