A multipoint latch system for releasably securing a first panel member against an enclosure cabinet or frame, the latch system having a translatable rod member (11) adapted to be mounted on a door panel, a rod guide (12) which is fixably mounted on the door panel, a pillow block (24) which is connected to the rod member and a pawl member (13) rotatably mounted to the pilow block, there further being a camming mechanism (14, 15, 22) which causes the pawl to rotate relative to the rod member as the rod is translated. A keeper (45) is provided for installation on a corresponding enclosure frame, and an actuator (53,54,55,56,65) is provided to facilitate translation of the rod member to release the pawl from engagement with the keeper.
