PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of performing a sensitive gas detection even in the application of a material excessively low in electric conductivity to provide a sufficient sensitivity in a conventional sensor structure as a gas sensitive material, and having a simple structure. SOLUTION: This gas sensor is formed of a porous sheet material 2 impregnated with the gas sensitive material and electrodes 3 provided on both sides of the sheet material 2. Accordingly, the gas sensor can be formed with an increased area of the electrodes 3 and a minimized dimension between the electrodes 3, so that the electric resistance value between the electrodes 3 can be reduced to improve the detecting sensitivity.
