METHOD FOR PRODUCING BANANA PULP FRIENDLY TO ENVIRONMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a continuous fiber banana pulp friendly to the environment. SOLUTION: A raw hemp of banana obtained from an old tree of banana is digested in a mixed solution of an alkali carbonate and/or hydrogen peroxide under normal pressure until the coarse fiber is softened. The digested material is mechanically defibrated by using a hollander so that a continuous fiber pulp is obtained in an extremely high yield and the amount of components of a raw material washed away into a waste liquor can be reduced. If required, the pulp waste liquor is concentrated and burnt, sodium carbonate is recovered from the ash and can be reused in the digesting.
