PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stainless steel pipe joint requiring a few number of part items, having a short dimension and facilitating piping construction. SOLUTION: The joint 1 comprises a socket 2 and a cap nut 3 threaded to each other. One stainless steel pipe 20, with the pipe end enlarged in diameter, is fastened to the socket 2. The inner faces of the socket 2 and the cap nut 3 contain tapered faces 32, 12, to which a packing 4, a washer 5 and a retainer 6 are fitted. After the pipe end of the other stainless steel pipe 30 is inserted thereinto, the cap nut 3 is tightened to deform the retainer 6 so as to be reduced in diameter and to fixedly hold the pipe 30.
