PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling the concentrations of water treating chemicals in a cooling water system by which concentration of effective components in circulating water in the cooling water system can be rapidly and precisely measured and also can be monitored. SOLUTION: The method and the device for controlling the concentrations of the water treating chemicals in the cooling water system is characterized by measuring the concentration of organic matter contained in the circulating water and determining adding quantities of the water treating chemicals based on the measured value when the concentrations of the water treating chemicals present in the circulating water in the cooling water system are controlled.
