The invention relates to a disposable detachable valve catheter made of polyethylene for discharging the air from the pleural cavity. According to the invention, the catheter is fit on a puncture needle and has the external walls progressively reinforced towards the proximal end which is continued with a funnel (3) in the shape of a frustrum of a cone (3), helping to attach a movable valve. The movable valve has a portion of the same shape and size, a segment (4) and further comprises a second cylindrical segment (5) having an outer thread with 2 ... 3 turns, whereon a cover (6) having 4 millimetric perforations is screwed; the space thus defined accommodates a free ball (7) playing the role of valve which closes the catheter on inspiration and opens it on expiration. The valve catheter is simple to handle under the conditions when the patient is not disturbed by its presence.
