PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium that can more lower noise by precisely controlling the structure of magnetic grains. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium, a plurality of non-magnetic metal intermediate layers are formed between a base layer and a magnetic layer, one layer thereof consists of at least one element of Ru, Re and Os and contains oxygen and another layer thereof consists of a CoCr alloy containing at lest one element of Nb, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ta, W, Re, Os, Ir and Pt. |
