PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for starting a microturbine of which the system uses an external direct-current power supply (18) and which does not depend on a PWM inverter. SOLUTION: A direct-current voltage is converted into a variable direct- current voltage (42) by means of a bidirectional buck-boost chopper circuit (30), a direct-current bus (24), and a direct-current-to-alternating-current converter (26). The direct-current-to-alternating-current converter produces at its output terminal a fixed voltage pattern, whose frequency (44) is gradually increased in concert with the direct-current voltage so as to accelerate the microturbine from a standstill to startup speed. Once the microturbine is started, excitation is discontinued, and the direct-current bus (24) and the direct-current- to-alternating-current converter (26) are used to produce output alternating- current power at a voltage level and frequency to match an electrical load (16).
|
