PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with a large external force with a relatively small pre-load, and effectively hold the pre-load. SOLUTION: This bearing unit comprises first and second bearings 1 and 2 disposed parallel with each other at a specified interval, a pre-load member providing a pre-load to the bearings in the axial direction, and an outer tube body 4 positioned on the outside of the bearings 1 and 2. The pre-load member comprises a wedge action member and an elastic member 8 providing a pressuring force to the wedge action member. Since the wedge action of the wedge action member acts against the external force in the direction opposite to the pressuring force, the effect of the external force can be cancelled or reduced.
