The boot (2) comprises an insert (1) which engages retaining means integral with the snowshoe allowing the boot to pivot about a transverse axis. The insert is composed of a transverse section comprising a front edge and a rear edge whilst one of the edges or its extension is in part concurrent with the transverse pivoting axis. The insert section has an S-shaped double curve (5a,5b).
