PURPOSE: An entirely luminous backlight with immediately below-disposed outer tubular electrode fluorescent lamps is provided to realize a backlight of which a panel emits light from the entire surface without any non-luminous areas, thereby increasing the uniformity of luminance. CONSTITUTION: An entirely luminous backlight with immediately below-disposed outer tubular electrode fluorescent lamps includes a plurality of outer tubular electrode fluorescent lamps(L1-L8) disposed in parallel by a uniform interval in the longitudinal direction, and two outer tubular electrode fluorescent lamps(L13,L14) disposed in parallel to each other in the traverse direction on the longitudinally disposed parallel outer tubular electrode fluorescent lamps, wherein outer tubular electrodes of outermost fluorescent lamps(L11,L12) among the plurality of longitudinally disposed fluorescent lamps contact the outer tubular electrodes of the traversely disposed fluorescent lamps. |
