In a process for the gas reduction of particulate oxide- containing ores, in particular of ion oxide-containing material, using the fluidized bed process at a pressure of < 5 bar, the ore being heated with the aid of a reduction gas produced from coal in a fluidized-bed reactor 1 designed as a preheating stage 5, and if appropriate also undergoing preliminary reduction, then being reduced to form ion sponge in at least one fluidized-bed reactor 2, 3 designed as a reduction stage 7, 8, the reducing gas being passed from the reduction stage 7, 8 to the preheating stage 5 via a reduction gas feed line 12 or reduction gas line 13 in the opposite direction to the material which is passed from stage to stage and is to be reduced, and being extracted as export gas after cleaning, heat is supplied to the reduction gas fed to the reduction stage 7, 8 and/or preheating stage 5, specifically through combustion of some of the reduction gas which is provided for the gas reduction in the reduction stage 7, 8 and/or in the preheating stage 5 together with oxygen and/or air.

|
