PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety interlock system for an automobile having a brake system capable of actively applying a brake of a vehicle. SOLUTION: This system has an object sensor capable of detecting the existence of an object such as a pedestrian in a dangerous region in the front part of the vehicle, a door sensor capable of detecting an opening or closing state of an exit door of the vehicle, an interlock releasing switch and a control circuit. The control circuit is capable of operating the safety interlock system when an opening signal of the door is received from the door sensor. When the safety interlock system is operated, the operation of the brake of the vehicle is made possible to prevent movement of the vehicle when the control circuit receives an object signal from the object sensor. The control circuit makes the safety interlock system non-operable in preliminarily fixed time after the control circuit receives a door closing signal or releasing signal.
