PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely apply a chemical to the surface of a rice field planted with seedlings regardless of a planting form. SOLUTION: This seedling planting apparatus is equipped with a seedling placing stand of 8 row specification which is reciprocated in the right and left direction at a set stroke and places seedlings, a seedling planting mechanism 17 of 8 rows which takes out stocks of seedlings one by one by operation in conjunction with the movement of the seedling placing stand and plants the seedlings on the surface of a rice field and a chemical application apparatus 21 for applying a chemical to the surface of a rice field after planting with the seedlings. The chemical application apparatus 21 is furnished with an applicator 25L for applying a chemical from one end of the right and left end sides to the surface of a rice field in a width of 6 rows and an applicator 25R for applying a chemical from the other end of the right and left end sides to the surface of a rice field in a width of 6 rows.
