PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for controlling animal ectoparasites such as fleas. SOLUTION: This composition for controlling the animal ectoparasites comprises a pyridine compound represented by general formula (I) [Y is a haloalkyl group; m is 0 or 1; Q is represented by general formula (II) (X is oxygen atom or sulfur atom; R1 and R2 are each hydrogen atom, a substitutable alkyl group, a substitutable alkenyl group, a substitutable alkynyl group; a substitutable cycloalkyl group, a C(W1)R3 group, an OR4 group, an S(O)nR5 group, an NHR6 group, general formula (III), a C(R8)=NO-R9 group or a substitutable aryl group or R1 and R2 together may form a C(R10)R11 group or, together with the adjacent nitrogen atom, may form a 4-5C 5-membered or 6-membered heterocyclic group which may contain nitrogen atom or oxygen atom) or a substitutable heterocyclic group] or its salt as an active ingredient.
