<p>The invention relates to an air conditioner of the type having a compressor mounted at a desired location within an outer housing. The air conditioner includes a molded plastic housing including a substantially horizontal bottom wall which has a through opening formed therein extending from its upper surface to its lower surface. The through opening in the bottom wall is located at the desired location for the mounting of the compressor. A structural plate is positioned underlying the bottom wall. The plate is configured so that it is coextensive with the opening and extends laterally beyond the opening such that a substantial portion of the upper surface of the structural plate is in confronting relation with the lower surface of the bottom wall. The structural plate is structurally attached to the bottom wall of the housing. The compressor is provided with mounting structure at the lower end thereof. Compressor attaching structure is provided on the upper portion of the upper surface of the structural plate which is coextensive with the oppugn in the bottom wall of the housing. The compressor attaching structure is configured to cooperate with the mounting structure of the compressor to thereby facilitate attachment of the compressor to the structural plate.</p> |
