PURPOSE: A multipath searching method in a mobile communication system is provided to multiply a proper weight value to the number of variable pilot symbols of a private physical control channel and of the rest control symbols, thereby increasing the detection probability and capable of finding the multipath within the rapid time. CONSTITUTION: Decimation devices(201,202) performs a decimation process of each channel signal inputted as a constant sample with a predetermined ratio. Input buffers(203,204) stores the processed outputs. A scrambling code generator(205) generates a scrambling code signal by the scrambling code control signal. A complex despreader(HPSK)(206) spreads the outputs of the input buffers(201,202) into a complex signal. Coherent accumulators(207,208) multiplies the spreaded signal to a pilot signal and then adds coherently by a symbol unit of the pilot symbol section and the rest section. An energy calculating unit(209) calculates a private physical control channel energy by the coherent sum signal. A multiplier(210) multiplies a proper weight component to the number of pilot symbols and the rest symbols. A non-coherent accumulator(211) performs a non-coherent sum of the output of the multiplier(210). A memory(212) stores the output of the non-coherent accumulator sequentially as search energy values. A digital signal processing unit(214) stores periodically the stored search energy value and outputs control signals of a search control logic(213) and a code scrambling code generation.
