PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for cleaning a screen printing machine wherein by cleaning a mask corresponding to the loading state thereof, the whole mask can be sufficiently and efficiently cleaned, so that the cleaning period can be reduced, while an optimum cleaning interval can be automatically set. SOLUTION: The cleaning device 50 of a screen printing machine includes a cleaning head 70 for wiping off stains of a mask 30 on which a printing pattern 30a is formed, a moving apparatus (support base 71) to relatively move the head 70 along the surface of the mask 30, and a movement control means to control the reciprocating action of the moving apparatus by means of a program. The head 70 moves from one of the ends of the mask 30 to the other end, while the head is repeating a reciprocating action of a small stroke, and the distance and/or the velocity of the reciprocating action of a small stroke is varied corresponding to the position of the mask. |
