PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install a clutch in a power transmission mechanism for a power assist in motor-driven power steering and to carry out secure steering capable of being realized with simple work for mounting a structure and a device thereof. SOLUTION: This transmission mechanism comprises a steering shaft member 1, a clutch A engaged with and connected to the steering shaft member 1 by the rotative motion of an outer ring member 6 mounted at its radial circumference position between two disc-like cover materials 2, 2 mounted to the steering shaft member 1 by being axially appropriately spaced, a worm wheel 15 mounted in the circumference of the outer ring member 6, a worm 16 gearing with the worm wheel 15, a motor 17 for rotating the worm 16, and a sensor 18 for sensing the torsion of the steering shaft member 1 to drive the motor 17. |
