PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe nonaqueous electrolyte battery causing no ignition and combustion of a battery vessel, and having high energy density even when a battery temperature abnormally rises by the unexpected situation. SOLUTION: In this nonaqueous electrolyte battery for housing a power generation element composed of a positive electrode, a negative electrode,and a nonaqueous electrolyte in the battery vessel, a flame resistant magnesium alloy having an ignition temperature of 550 deg.C or more in the air is used for the battery vessel, and prevents the battery vessel from causing the ignition and the combustion even if the battery temperature abnormally rises, and secures safety of the battery. This flame resistant magnesium alloy includes Ca by 0.2 to 5.0 mass % besides these main constitutive elements in an alloy system of either of an Mg-Al system, an Mg-Al-Zn system or an Mg-Zn system, and may respectively include at least one kind of element selected from Zr, Mn, Ag, Si, and RE(rare earth element) by 2.0 mass % or less in this alloy. |
