PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for induction hardening which has excellent wear resistance and pitting resistance. SOLUTION: The steel for induction hardening contains alloy elements of, by mass, 0.30 to 0.50% C, 0.30 to 1.50% Si and 0.30 to 1.50% Mn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and is applied to parts having excellent wear resistance and an excellent pitting resisting life as shown in the figure.
