<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for removing heavy metals or valuable metals from wastewater by trapping heavy metals or valuable metals inexpensively and stably in a state friendly to environment from wastewater, waste soil or deposited soil containing heavy metals or valuable metals. SOLUTION: An organic aminocarboxylic acid is added to industrial wastewater, sludge or surplus soil containing heavy metal elements in an equimolar amount or more with respect to the amount of heavy metal elements and, if necessary, water is further added thereto to form an aqueous solution or suspension and organic aminocarboxylic acid decomposing bacteria is allowed to act on the aqueous solution or suspension and a heavy metal-containing precipitate or floating substance generated by the action of the decomposing bacteria is trapped. If an iron salt is allowed to be further present, biodegradation is accelerated to accelerate the removal of heavy metals.</p> |
