PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize cost reduction and good print. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a cartridge holder 8 having an ink introduction tube 57 being connected with a recording head 6 through an ink passage, and an ink cartridge 9 being held removably by the cartridge holder 8 and having a plug body 50 communicable with the ink introduction tube 57. Between the cartridge holder 8 and the ink cartridge 9, recesses 72a and 72b and protrusions 61 and 62 being fitted or not fitted, respectively, depending on the correct and incorrect connection between the cartridge and the holder with regard to the type of color of ink being fed to the recording head 6 are formed. A circuit board 53 for delivering/receiving information data concerning to the ink other than the type of color and means for identifying data under fitted state of the recesses and the protrusions are provided, respectively, on the ink cartridge 9 side and the cartridge holder 8 side. |
