PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer unit by which a toner image carried by an image carrier is accurately transferred to paper without causing a defect such as a cleaning in midsection and toner stuck to the transfer unit is effectively shifted onto the image carrier by only electric cleaning, which is small-sized while prolonging the life and by which an image having excellent quality is prepared. SOLUTION: Press-contact force between a transfer belt 23 laid on a bias roller 22 and a photoreceptive drum 1 is adjusted by a cam structure provided with a pressing spring 25, a bottom board 27, a movable auxiliary roller 28 and sliding type flat cam 29 so as to obtain an appropriate value respectively in a transfer process and a cleaning process.
