<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a modified polyester resin which is usable as a binder for coating materials, adhesives, ink, or the like, by reusing a recovered polyester. SOLUTION: This modified polyester resin is obtained by the transesterification of (a) 5-60 pts.wt. polyester chips prepared by using a polybasic acid component mainly comprising terephthalic acid and (b) 5-40 pts.wt. polyol followed by the reaction of the resultant product with (c) 10-60 pts.wt. polybasic acid, the sum of ingredients (a), (b), and (c) being 100 pts.wt. Concerning the raw materials used, the ratio of the total number of moles of hydroxyl group to that of carboxyl group is 1.03 or higher; the number average mol.wt. is 1,000-10,000; the acid value is 1-100; and the OH value is 30-200.</p> |
