The correlation analysis method provides a correlation vector field from the digital input data for the corresponding video images using selected optimisation criteria and a hybrid recursive technique, with a corrected block vector used as the correlation vector for each actual pixel provided by block recursion with integrated pixel recursion for block vector correction. A disparity vector field used as the correlation vector field is determined by generation input image data (ID) from both video images of a stereo image pair provided by a multi-camera system with a given stereo geometry, with correction for the latter in block vector correction.
