The panel consists of a cellular core (14), esp of a honeycomb structure. Two skins (12,16) are fitted on either side of the core. Both skins have holes in them. The holes in one of the skins are in the form of micropores produced by a physico-mechanical action. The skin with the micro-pores can be in the form of a single layer of a woven material, e.g. fibreglass. This layer is coated with a resin which polymerises by a polycondensation reaction, e.g. phenol resin. Additionally, the surface of the panel which faces into the interior of the aircraft cabin has a decorative covering layer (10) of a material which is transparent to sounds.
