PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid repeated movement of frequent supply of ink to a sub-tank and avoid erroneous detection of the ink amount inside the sub-tank due to vibration. SOLUTION: Ink is supplied, through an ink supplying tube 10, to a sub-tank 7 installed on a carriage with an ink cartridge 9. An ink amount detecting means composed of a float member 31 having a permanent magnet 32 attached thereto and hole elements 33a and 33b is arranged in the sub-tank 7. An ink consuming amount counter for doing a multiplication of the ink amount that is jetted or discharged from a recording head 6 is arranged as well. When the state of detection in the ink amount detecting means designates an ink low state and the ink consuming amount counter reaches a fixed multiplied value, ink is supplied from the ink cartridge to the sub-tank. |
