PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grit chamber equipment capable of washing sand away even in a condition that the grit chamber is filled with a wastewater by using a small electric power, and a method for discharging grit. SOLUTION: The grit chamber equipment comprises a pump well, a plurality of nozzles, a grit pit, a grit pump at a bottom of the chamber, where the grit chamber with the nozzles is so disposed as to spurt water toward the grit pit, wherein the nozzles, the grit pit and a screw conveyor are provided in order toward downstream of the wastewater.
