The invention relates to a method for classifying a wheel rim, comprising the following steps: providing a wheel rim, placing the wheel rim on a balancing device, determining the unbalance of the wheel rim with respect to its position and extent, and applying a marking on the wheel rim by which the position of the unbalance and the extent of the unbalance can be identified as the remaining unbalance. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for a tire. A partial compensation of the unbalance of a tire and a rim may result in the provision of a predetermined remaining unbalance. A tire carrying a tire marking by which the position and the extent of the tire unbalance can be identified can be paired with a corresponding wheel rim that carries a wheel rim marking by which the position and the extent of the wheel rime unbalance can be identified in such a manner that the resulting wheel unbalance remains below a predetermined threshold value. |
