PURPOSE: A method for variably operating a frame rate of a notebook computer is provided to decrease power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device(5) is attached to a notebook system(4). A cathode ray tube(6) is connected to a serial port of the notebook system(4). Data are transmitted to the liquid crystal display device(5) and the cathode ray tube(6) at a frame rate speed, respectively. The frame rate speed of the liquid crystal display device(5) is less than that of the cathode ray tube(6), and a power consumption of the liquid crystal display device(5) becomes less than that of the cathode ray tube(6). Moreover, a color resolution in the liquid crystal display device(5) is enhanced at identical power consumption.
