METHOD FOR REDUCING POWER CONSUMPTION OF CPU, ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT AND RECORDING MEDIUM RECORDED WITH POWER CONSUMPTION REDUCING PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of sufficiently reducing the power con sumption of a CPU while generating the references of a clear signal for detecting the abnormality of the CPU and an input signal inputted to the CPU from the outside at the absolute minimum, and to provide electronic equipment and a recording medium on which a power consumption reduction program is recorded. SOLUTION: In this method for reducing the power consumption of the CPU 3, by which the CPU 3 is made into a sleep state except the time when the clear signal is outputted and the input signal is referred to by returning the CPU 3 to its normal operation state for every fixed period, outputting the clear signal for abnormality detection from the CPU 3 to an external monitoring circuit 4 and also referring to a start signal of motor 9 of a switch 6 inputted from the outside when the CPU 3 shifts to the sleep state. Both outputting of the clear signal and the referencing to the input signal and outputting only of the clear signal are repeated in a prescribed frequency for every fixed period, when the sleep state of the CPU 3 is released.
