PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the height of a piezoelectric vibrator from increasing by fixing a shield plate, reduce the height of an entire oscillator, and achieve sufficient electromagnetic shielding to components to be mounted and wiring patterns in a piezoelectric oscillator where a packaged piezoelectric vibrator and electronic components for composing an oscillation circuit are packaged on the same surface of a printed circuit board, and the shield plate is fixed to the metal lid of the piezoelectric vibrator. SOLUTION: The surface packaging piezoelectric oscillator comprises the piezoelectric vibrator 22 that is packaged onto the printed circuit board 30, the electronic components 28 for composing the oscillation circuit, and the shield plate 40 that is continuous to and fixed to the metal lid 24 of the piezoelectric vibrator. The piezoelectric vibrator has the metal lid for airtightly sealing the upper surface opening of an insulating package body, one end of the shield plate is connected and fixed to at least one end of the metal lid of the piezoelectric vibrator, and the lower surface of the shield plate is fixed to the upper surface of the electronic components or onto the upper surface of the printed circuit board as needed.
