Method for placing an electronic bet or wager based on the outcome of an event in which a first data record is recorded in a list of a betting management system. The record includes, as a minimum, the information relevant to the betting event, a wager amount, and a name or code corresponding to the better. After the first bet has been placed the list is made available to other users. An Independent claim is made for a device for execution of an electronic betting system. Bets can be placed over the Internet, by mobile phone SMS, etc.
