PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrothermal sealer for hermetically sealing an opening of a plastic bag or the like which can reliably and smoothly seal. SOLUTION: A slit 3 on a side face of a housing 10 into which a sealed member is to be inserted is formed with a deep depth size L. The sealed member is pinched between an elongate heater unit 5 in the slit and a pressing part 4 opposite thereto to have the member sealed. The deep slit 3 is used to tilt and position a sealing part to repetitively make a seal in a zigzag including crosses, whereby a highly airtight seal can be obtained. A pad 4a for pressing the sealed member is formed of an elastic material with its hollowed interior. The housing 10 is formed at least with its upper surface of a transparent or semitransparent material so that an upper part of the pressing part 4 can be viewed through the upper surface of the housing to visually recognize its position, thereby facilitating a sealing operation accompanied by positioning. In addition, in the case of a handy type, a protrusion 2f with approximately the same height with a protruding size of a pushbutton 4e is formed on a part or a whole of a periphery of the pushbutton 4e which protrudes from the upper surface of the housing 10, preparing for accidental pressing. |
