PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance filter with an open-flow type main filter element and a safety filter element. SOLUTION: The open-type fluid filter has the plated main filter element 22 in a closed loop structure with a plurality of pleats comprises an outside peripheral edge portion 30 formed by a plurality of outside pleat tips chips and an inside peripheral edge portion 34 formed by a plurality of inside pleat tips, and a hollow portion 38 extending along a preset axis. A fluid to be filtered flows through the filter element from the upstream dirty side to the downstream clean and then flows through the hollow portion 38 in the axial direction. The main filter element has an axial flow passage forming a boundary around the hollow portion along the axis and a flow peripheral edge portion 60 larger than the inside peripheral edge portion. The downstream of the main filter element is provided with the safety filter element for filtering both of an axial flow 58 in the hollow portion and an additional flow passage 406 between the flow peripheral edge portion and the inside peripheral edge portion.
