An expanding sleeve is conveyed to a refill unit (8), and the unit is moved from a first into a second position. In first position, the sleeve is transferred to the refill unit, in second position, the sleeve is moved from the refill unit to a setting tool (9). The sleeve is held on the tool, fitted into its hole, and an expander bolt is driven into the sleeve. All sleeves are supplied individually and in correct position. All movements under pneumatic control.
