The brake control system stores a characteristic (400) which provides a correction factor (AyEpsRed) for the brake force applied as a function of the vehicle transverse acceleration (ay) divided into five zones. In zones (401,405) the factor is independent of the acceleration, in zone (403) linearly dependent and in zones (402,404) dependent on the square of the acceleration.
