The invention concerns a device for diffusing at least a fluid into the atmosphere, comprising at least a fluid reservoir (2, 3, 4) mounted removable relative to the device, and, for each reservoir, electrically powered means for diffusing (11, 12, 13, 18, 19) into the atmosphere said fluid(s) contained in the reservoir. Said device is characterised in that it comprises means, for each reservoir, for storing (28, 29, 30) data concerning the reservoir and/or the fluid(s) it contains, rigidly fixed on the reservoir, and means for controlling (1) the diffusing means (18, 19) designed to verify, on the basis of data contained in the storage means (28, 29, 30) of each reservoir (2, 3, 4) the fulfilment of predetermined conditions corresponding to a possibility of re-introducing fluid into the reservoir, and to inhibit the diffusing means (11, 12, 13) associated with said reservoir if at least one of those conditions is fulfilled.
