PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inclination switch having high reliability, capable of surely sensing inclination of an insulator. SOLUTION: This inclination switch comprises the insulator 40, having a bowl-shaped recessed section 41, a metallic ball 30 supported movably in the recessed section 41, a light-emitting device 61, and a light-receiving device 62 for detecting a light emitted from the light-emitting device 61. A blocking plate 70, that is always urged upwardly by a spring 80 and moves downwardly by the ball 30, supported in a center hole 42 of the recessed section 41 when the insulator 40 is in the horizontal condition is provided to the inclination switch. A small hole 73, through which a light emitted from the light-emitting device 61 can pass is provided to the blocking plate 70, so that when the ball 30 is moved away from the central hole 42 by the inclination of the insulator 40, the light emitted from the light-emitting device 61 can pass through the small hole 73.
