Salts based on L-carnitine magnesium fumarate and solid oral compositions

In the present invention there are described stable and non-hygroscopic salts consisting of L-carnitine or alkanoyl-L-carnitine magnesium fumarate of the general formula I, in which R represents hydrogen or a straight or branched lower alkanoyl containing 2 to 5 carbon atoms. These salts are suitable for preparing solid compositions useful as dietary or nutritional supplements for human use and as fodder supplement for veterinary purposes.
