PURPOSE: An air conditioner with refrigerant control vessel attached to system and control method are provided to prevent over-shortage and over-filling phenomena according to surrounding temperature. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner includes an air conditioning system; a detective device; a refrigerant control device; and solenoid valves(140,180). The detective device is a temperature sensor(160) attached on an arbitrary place of the air conditioning system, preferably on an intake end of a compressor(100), to detect surrounding temperature. The refrigerant control device is a refrigerant control vessel(170) installed between a condenser(110) and an expansion device(130) to take in or discharge refrigerant to control amount of refrigerant in the air conditioning system. The solenoid valves are installed on an intake end and a discharge end of the refrigerant control vessel to control flow of refrigerant according to operational signal of a control part based on detected temperature.
