PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a carpet without deteriorating crimp characteristics or quality of the carpet even when disinfecting or sterilizing treatments are carried out at high temperatures and a crimped yarn suitable for the carpet. SOLUTION: This crimped yarn for the carpet comprises a polyphenylene sulfide fiber having 3.0-25.0 dtex single filament fineness and 5-20% crimp elongation percentage after treatment with boiling water. The carpet is characterized in that the carpet is composed of at least a right side yarn which is a pile and a backing fabric prepared by tufting the right side yarn which comprises >=70% of the crimped yarn for the carpet.
