PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a false twister capable of affording a doubled yarn of good quality without deteriorating production efficiency as opposed to a conventional false twister in doubling processing. SOLUTION: Two yarns are run side by side through a first heating device 4, passed through a guide 35 and then regulated with guides 36 to change the direction from the state of running side by side to the direction at right angles to the positions. Thereby, the yarns become a state of locating and running in the front and back from the front side to the back side of an exhaust gas member 23 for each yarn. The one yarn is separated from a mounting part of a cooling unit 16 to this side at a prescribed distance between a fixed wall member 18 of the cooling unit 16 and a movable wall member 20 and the other yarn is run with a prescribed interval from the position further to this side. In short, doubling processing for each spindle (the two yarns for each spindle) can be carried out by cooling the two yarns with the one cooling unit. Thereby, production efficiency is improved as compared with that of conventional doubling processing.
