PURPOSE: An apparatus for listening to broadcasts in a mobile communication system and a method thereby are provided to improve the convenience of a mobile terminal by mixing multi-channel audio signals among a plurality of broadcast signals and transmitting the mixed multi-channel audio signals to a mobile terminal through an audio output part. CONSTITUTION: If a subscriber inputs a key tone signal to select one among a plurality of cable broadcasting station channels(301), a control part receives and analyzes the key tone signal(303). The control part checks whether the present mode is a multi-channel listening mode(305). In case that it is judged that the present mode is the multi-channel listening mode, the control part checks whether the key tone signal is the first key(307). In case that the key tone signal is the first key, the control part sets the second channel(CH2) to the channel(CH2-1) prior to the second channel(309). However, if it is judged that the key tone signal is not the first key, the control part checks whether the key tone signal is the second key(311). If the key tone signal is the second key, the control part sets the second channel(CH2) to the next channel(CH2+1) of the second channel(313). If it is judged that the key tone signal is not the second key, the control part checks whether the key tone signal is the third key(315). If the key tone signal is the third key, the control part converts the present multi-channel listening mode into a single channel listening mode(317). If it is judged that the key tone signal is not the third key, the second channel is set to the first channel(CH1). Also the control part sets an inputted channel number to the second channel(319). Then the control signal generates a control signal to mix the audio data of the first channel and the audio data of the second channel(321).
